Some fine inner dullness. Some fine outer scuffs and scratches to be found. The upper embossing has heavy crate wear. Couple of fine fisheyes. Nice looking bottle.

Embossing: O'Connor Brothers / Trade / (Harp of Erin) / Mark / Sydney. Base: T T & Co / D. (New South Wales)

Type: Aerated Water Codd

Variety: All Way Pour. Applied top. Aqua. 6 oz.

Era: 1890s

Height: 185 mm

Condition: Very Good. Polished. Very smooth surfaces and top of the lip looks to have been re-shaped but only very slightly. Dullness in the top. Little surface impact and chip at the left side base edge over 7 x 4 mm. Very few other marks remaining. Nice looking bottle and quite rare in this style. (Bottle 11, Page 594, Thirsty Work, Jones).

Grade: 7.0

Reserve: $200.00

UPDATE: Final inspection reveals the base edge has been slightly reshaped as has the neck groove, likely to remove a small chip or flake of some sort. This has been heavily prepared for the polish job. Grade has been downgraded from 7.6 to an even 7.0.

Embossing is very heavy yet rounded, if that makes sense. Impact at front left base edge has a fine fracture from it just a short distance into the glass. Small flake under right base edge. Remains of pit marks and fisheyes scattered around. Interesting bottle, looks a bit different to normal.

Era: 1900s

Height: 200 mm

Embossing: C. Young / Trade Mark / (Arm Holding Scimitar) / Regd / Aerated Water & Cordial Manftr. Base Mark: M. (Western Australia, Kookynie)

Type: Aerated Water Codd

Variety: Applied top. Traditional one way pour style Codd patent with two tear drops. Aqua. 7 oz.

Era: 1900s

Height: 183 mm

Condition: Very Good. Still has some original red dirt inside the neck and light dirt to inner body that may be fine haze? Needs a good clean, but may well fully clean out? Small dirty open bubble to right base heel. 4 x 3 mm shallow chip under front base heel has a fisheye type small bruise from it. Minor impact or two to base edge. Some minor scuffs around the heel. Tiny surface flake to rear upper body near neck groove. A few little impact marks and fisheyes. A few scratches and scuffs to be found, but nothing deep. Embossing is a little weak in places, the trade mark is strong though. This must have been surface found as it is in original shiny condition which is unusual for a bottle from this region. Lovely whittled glass from making, this would have to be one of the better examples of this scarce bottle.

Type: Aerated Water Codd

Variety: Applied top, spun finish. Traditional Codd style patent with two tear drops. Aqua. 7 oz.

Era: 1910s

Height: 200 mm

Condition: Fair. Polished. 12 x 5 mm discoloured bruise to inner front lip. 19 mm crack down from this. There are also 2 other 5 mm fractures from the upper lip down. This has been knocked around prior to the polish and remains so! Pitted fisheyes throughout, some of which are larger than standard. Around the base a couple can be called bruises. Inner chamber is also somewhat pitted. A bit rough, but surprisingly this is the first we have sold in this smaller size.

Era: 1900s

Height: 186 mm

Condition: Very Good. Polished. Small bruise to outer right front lip. Some minor haze to inner lip. A few long scratch remains can be seen internally. Externally there is barely a mark to be seen, maybe one or two fine and small fisheyes and one or two tiny knock marks to the embossing. Embossing remains strong. Nice example.

Embossing: Tooth & Co Ltd / Trade Mark / (Invicta) / Invicta / Kent Brewery / Sydney // This bottle / is the / property / of / Tooth & Co Ltd / Ross Bros Makers / Sydney / Erskineville. Base Mark: 4. (New South Wales)

Type: Aerated Water Codd

Variety: Applied top, traditional Codd style patent with two tear drops. Aqua. 7 oz.

Era: 1890s

Height: 208 mm

Condition: Excellent. Little mark to outer left lip is a thin lump of glass. A little fine inner haze or dirt down one side. Some grime in places which should wash off and out. A few minor scuffs to the shoulder. A few spots of surface rust. One or two tiny fisheyes. A few very minor scratches. I thought there was some grime down the left upper seem, second look shows this to be a discoloured, scuffed scratch over about 50 mm, this is not deep. Surprisingly hard to get in this style with the writing to the rear, made by Ross and most importantly in this original, shiny condition without a polish!

Stained throughout. 4 x 4 mm flake to front near the right base heel over the glassworks details. A few pitted marks to rear upper body. A few pitted scratches. Other scattered scratches and fisheyes. A little opalescence internally. Heavy embossing has a few minor marks.

Embossing: C. Oertel's / Property / 403, Pitt Street / Sydney // Trade Mark / (Whale facing up the bottle spouting torpedos). Base: BGW oo. (New South Wales)

Type: Aerated Water Codd

Variety: Codd original or one way pour. Applied top. Aqua. 10 oz

Era: 1890s

Height: 219 mm

Condition: Very Good. Polished. Unusual variation. Whale is on opposite side to normal (usually when looking at the trade mark side they appear on the left, this one is on the right). Similar to Bottle 19, Page 604, Thirsty Work, Jones but does appear to be a different mould. Surfaces are quite smooth but still a bit of detail around. Some pitting remains mainly near and on the embossing. There has been a small chip or burst bubble down below the word Trade near the base edge that has been reshaped slightly and smoothed over. Attractive large trade mark and a scarce variation.

Nice deep aqua colour with loads of seed bubbles throughout. A couple of fleabites off the underside of the spun finished top. Some very light scratches around. A few fisheyes remain, not too many though. No seams left. Embossing is quite good and crisp, with only relatively minor marks. Actually a really nice looking example of this odd bottle with slanted neck groove.

Embossing: Summons & Graham / Trade / (SGP) / Mark / Parramatta // E. A. Dawbarn & Co / (Stop Sign) / 82 Pitt St Sydney. No base mark. (New South Wales)

Some work has been done around the base edge to minimise pits and fisheyes prior to the polish. Some pitted marks and fisheyes remaining, some scratches as well. You can still see the seams and the embossing is strong, so polish has been OK. Pretty hard bottle to get, nice with the Dawbarn details to rear.
