Not Sold

E. Rowlands down one panel. Across the three panels to the left of this: Trade / Registered 6 January 1880 / (Miner and Farmer over a Coat of Arms all enclosed in a shield) / Mark. No base mark. Household Cordial Applied double collar top, smooth tooled finish Octagonal cordial. Amethyst. 26 oz. 266 mm. 1900s

Good. Polished. An extremely crude bottle, there is an elongated internal bubble through Rowlands that has a tiny burst part which has let in some dirt and discoloured. Some very unusual heavy swirls in the glass to the rear near this. There is a fracture in the rear shoulder, 5 mm. A discoloured ding near this, 9 x 8 mm. A surface bubble in the same area which looks like a fisheye, 4 x 5 mm. Down closer to the bottom, still at the rear, is a fracture through the glass on an angle, measuring about 11 mm long, this is about 6 mm wide due to the angle it is on. The front has a few smaller things to note. There is a very shallow flake to the front, 2 x 2 mm, near this is a ding, 3 x 3 mm, then to the lower right of the trade mark is another ding, 4 x 4 mm. There are some minor nibbles around the sharp edges around the base. Some pitting remains after the polish job, not a lot though. Also some fisheyes to be found, but only small and very few. Polish has not been too heavy and left plenty of detail on the glass. Embossing is strong with good detail. Due to the fractures being mainly at the rear, and with the crudity and nice colour of this wonderful piece of glass, it still looks like a great item. Grade: 6.4 Estimate: $50 - 75
