Embossing: W. Wright / Mineral Water Manufr / Long Eaton // Rylands Acme / Patent / Sole Maker / Dan Rylands / Barnsley // Trade Mark / rd on each shoulder under the side indents. Smooth base. Label from Meurant, Yackandandah. Soda Water. (UK AND Victoria?)

Type: Aerated Water Codd

Variety: Acme Reliance Patent. Blue Lip. Aqua. 10 oz.

Era: 1890s & 1930s

Height: 215 mm

Condition: Excellent. Bottle is scuffy. Has some pitting and wear. Label is faded to one side and worn and marked. Now here's the thing. The Yackandandah factory was still using marble bottles in to at least the 1940s or early 1950s. In the 1970s crates of bottles were sold with Meurant labels and those bottles were from all over Australia and New Zealand. So while it is unusual for a UK bottle to have this label it seems like it is just one of these that has somehow found its way to Australia in the early 1900s and then after years of use has ended its useful life in a crate at Yackandandah, Victoria, Australia.

Grade: 8

Embossing: A. M. Sayers / (AMS monogram) / Registered / Horsham. Base Mark: M. (Victoria)

Type: Aerated Water Codd

Variety: Applied top, tooled finish. Four way pour Dobson style patent with four dimples. Aqua. 6 oz.

Era: 1910s

Height: 198 mm

Condition: Very Good. Light haze and dirt internally. Looks like a fair bit of this will come out with a good soaking clean. Little nibbled surface flake above front dimple. Some little fine fisheyes around the chamber and upper body and the lip as well. Impact to front left heel has a small nibbled flake from it. Line to upper rear body is a fold from making. Some light scuffs around the shoulder. Heavy embossing has some nibbled wear in places. Short deep scratch to front base edge. Extremely rare, I have never seen another small Sayers codd from Horsham in the western districts of Victoria. Ann Sayers had an aerated water factory, she also held the license for the Green Park Hotel in Horsham which was attached to store as well. The licence was renewed in 1905.
