J, M'Gee & Co / Melbourne (J. McGee). Spirits Whisky Jug Approximately Quart size salt glaze (dark tan top, light tan base). Impressed mark with blue or grey wash to highlight. Appears to be early Australian made stoneware 208 mm. 1870s-1880s
Repaired Handle. The original handle was broken from this item when found and subsequently professionally put back in place. A couple of small pieces at the base of the handle have been filled to a high standard. Otherwise this jug is in superb condition and a spectacular early piece of Melbourne stoneware.
