Not Sold

Acme Co / Coolgardie. WA. No potters stamp. Ginger Beer Cork Stoppered Dump shape. Grey glaze. 10 oz. 159 mm. 1890s

Very Good. Hard to judge condition accurately as this bottle is incredibly crude. There is a triangular shaped chip to the right edge of the impressed stamp that at its largest dimensions is 18 x 10 mm. The bottle has crazing throughout, some lines probably best described as glaze hairlines as well. A little bit of rust stain, mainly to the back and base. Tiny impact mark on top of the lip. Top is quite weird in its shape and style of manufacture. Euphemistically known as the "Convict style" Acme ginger beer because of its grey colour and crude manufacture although of course it would date well after the convict period. Almost certainly made by a local potter, and quite rare, a nice crude piece of early Western Australian goldfields history. Grade: 7.1 Estimate: $100 - 150
