Fabulous hallmarked silver syphon holder with a syphon: South Australian / A. M. Bickford & Sons / Proprietors / Adelaide / Aerated Water Factory / Made in France. No base mark. (South Australia) Aerated Water Soda Syphon Holder is hallmarked with a wooden base. Bottle is a round, amethyst syphon. 30 oz. Holder is 175 mm. Syphon is 238 mm without spout.. 1890s
The holder is a fantastic, ornate piece. The silver area is tarnished. There are some scratches and minor marks. The wood is in good condition, this may have been recoated at some stage. The bottle is quite nice too, not sure of the rarity, but this is a nice, early example. This has the correct marked spout for Bickford. There is some contents residue staining internally. Wear to the pedestal base has a few flakes, small chips and fisheyes. Some fisheyes around the shoulder. Some shoulder wear as well. Scratches scattered around. A few little impacts and fisheyes.
